Closely linked to the history of the Second World War, Calvados can be discovered through its coastline and its landing beaches. It was here, at dawn on June 6, 1944, that Allied troops landed on the coasts during the War. Deeply marked by this key moment in history, the Calvados region is home to many museums and memorials that retrace Operation Overlord.

The American cemetery is located in Colleville-sur-Mer and has more than 9,000 graves of soldiers who fell on D-Day. This peaceful place, where an atmosphere of deep solemnity hovers, is a must-visit.
The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum

The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum is located on the west coast of Calvados, in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer. It traces the Landing and its consequences on the military and civil history of the surrounding towns. Explanatory panels, photos and videos provide a better understanding of the stakes and the consequences of the D-Day landings.
