Overview
Seaside camping on the Ile of Oléron
Located on a beautiful island just off France’s west coast (accessible by road bridge), Mer et Soleil offers everything you could want from a holiday park, including indoor and outdoor pools, slides and a lazy river for daytime relaxing. Those with a head for heights can tackle the largest rope pyramid in France, and there's also a 30-metre double zip line. Topping off the amazing array of activities are playing fields, a beach volleyball court, and our selection of free kids’ clubs.
You can head to the island's most beautiful beaches by jumping on and off the free shuttle bus, or by following more than 160 km of cycle paths which will take you past pine forests, the port at Cotinière, Chassiron lighthouse and the Vauban citadel. Foodies should keep an eye out for the famous oysters from Marennes-Oléron.

The brilliant swimming complex includes a giant lagoon with a lazy river, a covered pool, plus a paddling pool, big splash zone and a spa bath. Plus, there's a second area exclusively for waterslides! All the fun is supervised by our fully certified lifeguards through the day.

Places to visit near Mer et Soleil d'Oléron holiday park
The brilliant beaches around the Ile d'Oléron include the wild beach Sables Vigniers, the dunes at La Conche Madame, and south-facing Domino beach. Other local highlights include the fishing port of La Cotinière, the 46m tall Chassiron Lighthouse, with 224 steps to the top and famous museum and gardens, and boat trips that explore the famous Fort Boyard, an offshoot seaport that was 500 years in the planning, finally commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte, but never actually used defensively!

For an authentic taste of fresh fish head to this lively working harbour. It has lots of shops and restaurants with speciality seafood as well as and art galleries and lots of quaint shops an cafes.

Fort Boyard
You've probably heard of Fort Boyard from the TV - here's your chance to get upfront and close to this famous tourist attraction. There are regular boat trips out to sea which makes it a fun day out.

Chassiron Lighthouse
The Chassiron lighthouse, perched on a rocky cliff, is located at the northern end of the island of Oléron. 46 meters high, it dates back to 1836 and is known for its contemporary garden designed in the form of a compass rose. It offers an exceptional view of the Pertuis d'Antioche, as far as the mainland and over a large part of the island.

The islands of Aix and Madame
Enjoy a boat ride from Fouras to the only real “island” in Charente-Maritime (Ré and Oléron are linked to the mainland by a bridge!). Its little sister, Ile Madame, is accessible at low tide, with good shoes, following the natural cord of sand one kilometer long, which connects it to the mainland.
